History

Manufacture of the Abba Zaba bar began in 1922 by Colby and McDermott. Some time later, the Cardinet Candy Co., which began in the home of George Cardinet, Sr., took over making it. In 1978, the Annabelle Candy Co. acquired the Cardinet Candy Co. and began making the Abba Zaba bar.

The original candy wrapper featured an image which today is considered racially derogatory. It now has a different design and Annabelle Candy Co. will only say that the wrapper has not changed for as long as they have been making the candy.
