Apple Heads were originally called Johnny Apple Treats. They are apple flavored candies made from real apple juice with a tart apple shell.

Ferrara Pan Candy Company has produced Appleheads since 1962. They are made by the cold panned process where candy pieces are built from candy centers tossed in revolving pans while flavors, color and other ingredients are added, one at a time until the candy is the desired size.
