History

After coming home at the end of World War I, Lt. Bob McCormack decided to pursue his dream of starting a candy factory. When the company was small, Lt. McCormack was salesman, bookkeeper, as well as plant manager. Soon it became well known in the industry that he had a great deal of knowledge about candy making. Others in the industry sought his advice.

Bobs was an innovative company from the beginning. In the 1920s they became the first company to wrap their candy in a new product - cellophane. In the 1950s, Bobs was the first candy company to use a machine to automatically make stick candy. This machine was invented and patented by Bob McCormack's brother-in-law, Gregory Keller, a Catholic priest. Some time later, Bobs patented box and case designs which kept the candy safe in shipping.
